What is Carmel Valley?
Carmel Valley is a region on the central coast of California known for its picturesque landscapes, wineries, and access to world-class amenities. It is situated in Monterey County, about 15 minutes from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. The area features rolling hills, vineyards, and a mild coastal climate.
As a local to this area, I can say Carmel Valley is an amazing location to escape to. There are tons of amazing wineries and wine produces and if you want to simply come for the weekend or spend a longer amount of time there are tons of activities and being only 15 -30 minutes from Big Sur, Carmel, beaches and hikes, it is the perfect place to pop the question.
What makes Carmel Valley particularly enchanting is its association with vineyards and wineries. Jose had contacted me in search of the perfect spot to pop the question. After hearing his vision and desires I thought Albatross Ridge would be the perfect location for his proposal. He wanted to propose in a area that has privacy, amazing views and setting, and memorable proposal experience.

Not only is the winery hands down one of my favorites the views are unmatched in Carmel Valley. Albatross Ridge is situated on the top of a hill overlooking Carmel Valley and Carmel-by-the-Sea and is on private property which makes any kind of set up or “Marry Me” sign totally possible! The vineayrd is located about 15 minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Best Locations to Propose in Carmel Valley
Albatross Ridge - This place gets my vote.
Bernardus Lodge - For its cute gardens and locations on the property that have proposal ready areas.
Carmel Valley Ranch - This is probably the most popular area in Carmel Valley. You have a ceremony green as well as vineyards to choose from. Plus pretty epic views of Carmel Valley.
Garland Park - This is a reginal park and does require permits. You can access that here.
Folktale Winery - epic winery in Carmel Valley with old world vibe. I will say finding a private spot that is also epic can be a challenge as this is a very popular winery. You can reach them here to inquire.
Carmel Valley or Carmel-by-the-Sea?
These are two very different vibes. Carmel Valley is more of a laid-back resort-style area. If you are into golfing, wine tasting, relaxing by a pool, and really leaving feeling like you escaped, this is the place.
Carmel-by-the-Sea is definitely the more active area between the two. All of the restaurants are located here. Carmel Valley has a few amazing restaurants but for the Michelin Star vibe, this is your place. Great beach access and a variety of beaches as well.
